Wake up and smell the Roses? ….

I caught up with Hollie Azzopardi the other day and wanted to ask her a bit about sleep.

Hollie Blog

I’ve been following her blog and Instagram feed for some time now, in fact, ever since meeting her at Melissa Ambrosini Goddess Group in Sydney late last year. Her posts show a deep understanding and passion about sleep… with quotes like “it matters just as much as exercise and nutrition and it’s time we wake up to the facts and realise this.”

I couldn’t agree more… and with sleep taking up on average a third of our lives, clearly it freaking matters all right! We all know when we need it… haven’t had it… and how it affects how we function right? – or do we?

So, I asked Hollie to let me in on her sleep patterns and how much is it part of her #a-game? Continue reading “Wake up and smell the Roses? ….”

Look up what do you see ? …

The #a-game is all about the things we do individually each day, to try and be the best that we can … every day. And right now, my game is pretty-darn good – if I do say so myself!

That said though, I don’t want this to be a manicured, picture perfect “this is how it’s done” kinda blog … because that’s just not real life and hey, you’d see right through that bullsh~t anyway!? But I also don’t want this to be a one sided off load … I want to keep it real.

Every now and then though, I do just want to “mind-dump” on here … hey! it’s a blog after all,  but don’t worry I’ll wipe my own after?! So, here goes … Continue reading “Look up what do you see ? …”

Well, are you going to show me yours?!!

Over the years, I’ve tried many, different ways to get to the bottom of my personal #a-game … I’ve delved into all types of wellness practices, read all the articles and even tried following, those so called, 10 steps to better wellness programs you see in magazines. I’d follow them – mostly blindly – exercising, trying not to bump into things, watching my diet, “thanking” what seemed like all of mankind, as part of a “gratitude practice” and repeating daily affirmations, or mantras, over and over for the one billionth time … no exaggeration! and at the end … I still wouldn’t really know why I’d exercised, practiced mindfulness or meditated … or what I’d actually achieved.

More times than not though, I’d just end up saying F@CK IT!! and throw in the towel – why – because of all the do’s, don’ts and don’t you freaking dare’s they’d imposed. It all just felt torturous, too disciplined, too restrictive, more like a punishment and something I was obliged to do, rather than self-development.

All these experiences have all led me to one big conclusion … “There simply must be a different and better f@cking way for people to develop and improve their wellness habits!?”

So what next? Continue reading “Well, are you going to show me yours?!!”

#a-game

At the end of my last blog, the closing question to everyone was “are you interested, with me, and would you like to see one put together?!”

OK, now let’s just take one or two steps back … and let me be clear, because trust me, sometimes being clear isn’t one of my strong points. I’m not looking at blowing my own trumpet here, playing out arrogant notes, believe me I’m more comfortable passing the trumpet and seeing how we all play!

Ultimately, yeah I was talking about my own little, big idea… of an A-Game – which for me is a set of “go to” resources, individual and specific to us, that we can use to really get to know ourselves, our partners, our teams … what we need to do, in relation to… yeah, you guessed it, WELLNESS!

So, hopefully that’s clear… although I can’t help wondering just what your expectations might be after reading this?! So, this is probably a good time to explain my motives and intentions… Continue reading “#a-game”

Homemade Marzipan

With Christmas well and truly on the way, who doesn’t want marzipaned Christmas cake and be able to make traditional marzipan fruits?!  … and even though  I’ve given up refined sugar, that’s not gonna stop me, hell no!!! … with large amounts of almond meal in the pantry, a huge dollop of determination and a general idea how marzipan is made   this is what happened ….. The winner takes it all …. ?!

After my last blog post and diving head long into Melissa Ambrosini’s book, I’ve felt like I needed to tread water for a while… I needed time to think about how my “mean girl” presents herself and how she’s been trying to use my own goals against me! (How cruel is that.!). Those of you that have read my blog will know that I am and remain a massive advocate of goals which have – in the main – served me well… but at times I know they have also been a real killer too! Dream Big! … show up for you!

I love coming across people that just stop you in your tracks and make you think about cross sections in life… and this happened to me recently when “someone” got me to stop… and question how I talk to myself. Sounds strange, right?… well, it happened whilst I was attending an event at the GoodnessMe Box wholefoods-market and the “someone” was the one and only Melissa Ambrosini.!
