I’m not anti-social, how about you? ….

With a significant amount of jetlag and a huge dollop of sugar withdrawals after a rather indulgent trip back to the UK, where we spent time catching up with family and attending my daughter’s graduation ceremony … I have got to hold my hands up and concede that I’ve been rather anti-social of late, not like me I know, sorry!

Can you guess freaking why? Continue reading “I’m not anti-social, how about you? ….”

Wake up and smell the Roses? ….

I caught up with Hollie Azzopardi the other day and wanted to ask her a bit about sleep.

Hollie Blog

I’ve been following her blog and Instagram feed for some time now, in fact, ever since meeting her at Melissa Ambrosini Goddess Group in Sydney late last year. Her posts show a deep understanding and passion about sleep… with quotes like “it matters just as much as exercise and nutrition and it’s time we wake up to the facts and realise this.”

I couldn’t agree more… and with sleep taking up on average a third of our lives, clearly it freaking matters all right! We all know when we need it… haven’t had it… and how it affects how we function right? – or do we?

So, I asked Hollie to let me in on her sleep patterns and how much is it part of her #a-game? Continue reading “Wake up and smell the Roses? ….”

Well, are you going to show me yours?!!

Over the years, I’ve tried many, different ways to get to the bottom of my personal #a-game … I’ve delved into all types of wellness practices, read all the articles and even tried following, those so called, 10 steps to better wellness programs you see in magazines. I’d follow them – mostly blindly – exercising, trying not to bump into things, watching my diet, “thanking” what seemed like all of mankind, as part of a “gratitude practice” and repeating daily affirmations, or mantras, over and over for the one billionth time … no exaggeration! and at the end … I still wouldn’t really know why I’d exercised, practiced mindfulness or meditated … or what I’d actually achieved.

More times than not though, I’d just end up saying F@CK IT!! and throw in the towel – why – because of all the do’s, don’ts and don’t you freaking dare’s they’d imposed. It all just felt torturous, too disciplined, too restrictive, more like a punishment and something I was obliged to do, rather than self-development.

All these experiences have all led me to one big conclusion … “There simply must be a different and better f@cking way for people to develop and improve their wellness habits!?”

So what next? Continue reading “Well, are you going to show me yours?!!”

Baked Scotch Egg!

This recipe was a total winner with hubby so I thought I’d share it!

They’re really quick and easy to make, that’s what we all want to hear, right?! You can simply have eggs and sausage ready to go, anytime, anyplace. They’re an easy snack or main meal when eaten with veggies or salad. (Not that, that happened with hubby, but it’s a thought.)

Ingredients:

  • 4 Eggs
  • 5 Sausages (check for any added sugar)
  • 1  Cup Polenta
  • 1 Tablespoon Paprika (or more to taste)
  • Handful of chopped Parsley (or any other herbs you prefer)
  • Seasoning to taste (Salt, Pepper, Garlic Salt, etc)

“Game changer!?…”

Where the hell have all you lot been?! Shit, it’s me this time isn’t it – not you… I know, I’ve been gone ages right! So anyway, how have you all been? and mores the point, what have you been up to?

Me, I’ve taken some time out to think through this blogging malarkey… wondering what I want to share and how much should I “put out” there. It’s freaking hard you know, particularly as I’m no wordsmith and struggle with dyslexia. Yes, even that was hard to spell – thank f@ck for autocorrect!!!

At the start, I was just sharing the journey I was on to change up my lifestyle and trying to feel better, whatever that looks like… But somehow, along the way, I stopped being me and started writing for an audience (you lot!) in a way I thought I should write. I began to filter out what is the real “me”, be it my opinions or my stupid sense of humor, sometimes censoring my writing beyond recognition… I now realize that it takes real balls to write freely, so I’ve decided that instead of fearing it… questioning things, the setbacks, the false starts and thinking that I’d never get freaking started, I just need to start…

So, here goes… not wrapped up in theory or censored, my idea, my dream – in the raw – with no apologies, explanations or having to justify myself in any which way! Continue reading ““Game changer!?…””

Caramel Sauce and Cake Topper

Who doesn’t like a caramel sauce, huh?! …if you’re  wanting to use up some muffins  or making a fresh batch how about making a caramel sauce or topper which will make it feel like a decadent treat or a beautiful way to show someone how much you love them … anyway, that’s the excuse I’m using and I’m sticking with it!!! Making the sauce couldn’t be any quicker or simpler and it’s great to mix with other toppings like coconut yoghurt and roasted nuts. If you want to take it one step further, using moulds or rings simply allows the sauce to cool and set to make the most beautiful toppers. You can mix through or decoratively arrange with nuts, fruit or cacao nibs and use them any time … Continue reading “Caramel Sauce and Cake Topper”
