The A-game: Certified PG … or X-Rated?

Life can be complicated and life can also be a bitch… but hey! ultimately life is wonderful! – so we can shake our pom pom’s baby … it’s not all doom and gloom!

I’ve begun to realise this more as I’ve gotten older… just like I’ve also begun to realise that when I’m on my a-game, I can pretty much ride out life “successfully”, by which I mean “well”,  as in mind, body, and spirit.  Yep, I think I’ve pretty much sussed what I need to do daily now, so that I can function to the best of my ability. Which – trust me – really freaking helps when you’re riding the shit storm that life can be!

But seriously … I’m now questioning if knowing our a-game is really sexy or X-Rated enough? Or, could its PG certification or its “adulting” nature seem to put us right off?!   Continue reading “The A-game: Certified PG … or X-Rated?”

Look up what do you see ? …

The #a-game is all about the things we do individually each day, to try and be the best that we can … every day. And right now, my game is pretty-darn good – if I do say so myself!

That said though, I don’t want this to be a manicured, picture perfect “this is how it’s done” kinda blog … because that’s just not real life and hey, you’d see right through that bullsh~t anyway!? But I also don’t want this to be a one sided off load … I want to keep it real.

Every now and then though, I do just want to “mind-dump” on here … hey! it’s a blog after all,  but don’t worry I’ll wipe my own after?! So, here goes … Continue reading “Look up what do you see ? …”

Well, are you going to show me yours?!!

Over the years, I’ve tried many, different ways to get to the bottom of my personal #a-game … I’ve delved into all types of wellness practices, read all the articles and even tried following, those so called, 10 steps to better wellness programs you see in magazines. I’d follow them – mostly blindly – exercising, trying not to bump into things, watching my diet, “thanking” what seemed like all of mankind, as part of a “gratitude practice” and repeating daily affirmations, or mantras, over and over for the one billionth time … no exaggeration! and at the end … I still wouldn’t really know why I’d exercised, practiced mindfulness or meditated … or what I’d actually achieved.

More times than not though, I’d just end up saying F@CK IT!! and throw in the towel – why – because of all the do’s, don’ts and don’t you freaking dare’s they’d imposed. It all just felt torturous, too disciplined, too restrictive, more like a punishment and something I was obliged to do, rather than self-development.

All these experiences have all led me to one big conclusion … “There simply must be a different and better f@cking way for people to develop and improve their wellness habits!?”

So what next? Continue reading “Well, are you going to show me yours?!!”

Baked Scotch Egg!

This recipe was a total winner with hubby so I thought I’d share it!

They’re really quick and easy to make, that’s what we all want to hear, right?! You can simply have eggs and sausage ready to go, anytime, anyplace. They’re an easy snack or main meal when eaten with veggies or salad. (Not that, that happened with hubby, but it’s a thought.)

Ingredients:

  • 4 Eggs
  • 5 Sausages (check for any added sugar)
  • 1  Cup Polenta
  • 1 Tablespoon Paprika (or more to taste)
  • Handful of chopped Parsley (or any other herbs you prefer)
  • Seasoning to taste (Salt, Pepper, Garlic Salt, etc)

Does the grass need to be greener?

From the feedback I received on my last blog, it seems there’s a few of you out there asking the exact same question that I’d written in my journal… “Fantastic! Now, where do I START?” – great minds huh?!

And honestly, I entirely get why this maybe our first thought, after all there’s just so much information out there… even just trying to understand what’s really meant by the term “wellness” could send us on a journey to infinity and beyond… joining good old Buzz Lightyear! So maybe get your lycra ready, or maybe not?! Continue reading “Does the grass need to be greener?”

“Shine mega and do what makes you happy!” …

Some of you will be aware that I recently attended the brilliant “What should I eat” event organised by Business Chicks that bought together foodie experts Lola Berry, Damon Gameau, Jessica Sepel, Luke Hines, Joe Wicks and David Gellespie to answer questions on what the heck we should all be eating… particularly as “there are more mixed messages (out there…) than you can shake a stalk of celery at”

For those that don’t recognise everyone on the panel (no shame there because to be honest… I didn’t know them all before the event either.!) Here’s a brief introduction to them: Continue reading ““Shine mega and do what makes you happy!” …”

“Two sides to every … blog”

As many of you are aware by now, my daughter recently came to Australia for a month – as I often wonder what family, friends and others think of the IQS Program, I thought it might be a great idea to ask her thoughts as she had just experienced it first hand … so here, in her own words, is her blog post about IQS!…

When my mum initially asked me to write a blog post for her, the first thought I had was “How can I write something about IQS when I have such an obsession with doughnuts”… however, it has actually come quite easily. Continue reading ““Two sides to every … blog””
